The self-made billionaire celebrates her 60th birthday today. Here’s what she says about achieving success.

Oprah’s media empire began in 1986 with her nationally syndicated talk show. It would be hard to overstate her influence; the “Oprah Effect” has helped others rise to fame in publishing, entertainment and politics. She is the world’s first black female billionaire, and is the richest self-made woman in America.

We like her quote above because it reminds us  how traditionally “feminine” traits, like thinking of others, can can translate into big rewards—both economic and social—in the business sphere.
