In New York a new holiday market is offering products from women-owned sustainable businesses that are making a difference around the world. The market, hosted by the New York Women Social Entrepreneurs, is part of a trend toward purchasing organic, local, fair trade, nontoxic, energy efficient, and sweat-free products as consumers become more socially and environmentally conscious.
Over 40 vendors will take part with products including: chocolate made with organic cocoa from a bio-diversified plantation in Chiapas, Mexico; made to order dresses produced locally in New York with organic fabric; jewelry made from recycled, sustainable and natural materials; handbags made from fabric handwoven in Cambodia; and photographs by marginalized children documenting their lives to create positive change in their own communities.

The market will also include programming such as film screenings of women filmmakers, including the Story Exchange videos, an art exhibition of women artists, DIY workshops and a panel discussion with representatives from ethical fashion rockstars and women champions such as Eileen Fisher, Tory Burch Foundation, Mercado Global, Lower East Side Girls Club, and Accion USA.
The Give Good Market will be held Friday Nov 30 to Saturday Dec 1 from 11 am to 8 pm at 601 West 26th Street.
