Nadine Bailey-Joyner, Satisfying Solutions, Consulting, The Story ExchangeYour Name: Nadine Bailey-Joyner

Business Name: Satisfying Solutions, a nutrition education service

Type of Business: Coaching and Consulting, Food and Beverage

Business Location: Washington D.C., United States

Reason for starting
After overcoming personal issues with obesity and ill health by adjusting my diet and reformulating recipes, I realized that people from every walk of life shared the same struggles that I faced. I also realized that most of the marketing and programming for healthy nutrition was not reaching a valuable constituency. I created Satisfying Solutions with the vision and mission to provide culinary instruction and nutrition counseling services. My crusade is to now reach the masses in an attempt to create a healthier culinary culture. I prioritize in connecting to the underserved community in an effort to “Improve Our Nations Nutrition, One Healthy Recipe At A Time”

How do you define success?
If I can save one life in this crusade, God will be pleased with me.

Biggest Success
Being recognized by Roz Brewer, CEO of Sams Club, for the work I am doing.

What is your top challenge and how have you addressed it?
My top challenge is remaining encouraged and persevering the financial hurdles presented by entrepreneurship. I have addressed remaining encouraged by surrounding myself with like minded folks who share many of the same experiences that I do. With that said, I have had to refocus some personal and familial relationships. Financially, I am still struggling, but I am seeking professional advice.

Who is your most important role model?
My 91 year old mother, who is a living testament to being true to yourself, believing in your God given passion, and never giving up. She is my best friend, by the way.
