Name: Rosanna Berardi
Business: Berardi Immigration Law
Location: Buffalo, New York, U.S.
Industry: Legal Services
Reason for starting? Berardi Immigration Law was founded in 2005, after I had been practicing law for eight years. I was very unhappy in a large corporate law firm setting and was considering going back to school to change careers. I decided to start my own firm to see if I was really unhappy with the practice of law or whether it was just my work environment. 12 years later, I can say with confidence that I truly love practicing law in the right environment.
How do you define success? Success is helping people solve their problems and reach their undefined potential. I love being a business owner because I am able to help my clients figure out how to live and work in the United States. Further, I love mentoring and empowering my employees to become the best they can be. I work closely with them to help identify, grow and develop their skills.
Biggest success: My biggest success to date was assisting a mother, who was in the U.S. and who had been separated from her 15-year-old son, who was in Denmark, for over a year due to an administrative immigration error. We were able to correct the error and reunite the family.

What is your top challenge and how you have addressed it? Our top challenge has been identifying a digital marketing firm to keep our website running and relevant. We are still trying to solve this problem! Being a working mom has inspired me to take work/life issues into consideration on a daily basis. My team has the ability to work from home, work limited hours, take time off to be with their families, etc.
Who is your most important role model? My role models are other successful companies that I like doing business with, such as Amazon, Southwest Airlines and Disney. One of our goals is to become the “Disney” of immigration law firms.
