This story is part of our 1,000 stories campaign. What’s your story?

Name: Susan Di Meo

Business: Synderela LLC, a designer of modern wedding dresses

Industry: Clothing & Accessories

Location: New York, New York, U.S.

Reason for starting: I wanted to change the way women think about fashion & to inspire other women & girls to chase their dreams & be independent.

How do you define success? If I’ve influenced one one woman to go after what she wants, then I’ve succeeded. If I’ve made one woman feel normal that she is not married or doesn’t have children by the age of 35, then I’ve succeeded.

Biggest Success: My biggest success is facing every challenge we’ve faced in this start up and still wanting to move forward. I’m proud of us for still getting up & continuing the process.

What is your top challenge and how have you addressed it? Limited funds. As a team we’ve looked at our bank account and we’ve restructured the way we’re doing things. Every dress is now being made by our designer instead of outsourcing & we’ve tightened our belt just another notch.
