Calling something “brilliant” speaks to its shine, its uniqueness. The 10 businesses we’re currently celebrating, and their owners, undoubtedly qualify for such a label.

Our 2025 Brilliant Business Ideas list spotlights early-stage companies, all run by women, that achieve admirable goals, whether that’s bridging language barriers (Manzanita Marketing) or keeping sports moms warm (Chillin Sports Mom) or developing leadership via horses (Horse + Bow). And they do so in unexpected and exciting ways.

In this year’s call for applications, we asked women entrepreneurs to tell us how their companies “will solve problems and drive conversations,” with an emphasis on new businesses that “speak to the concerns of the moment we now find ourselves in.” With our collective wellness imperiled – we’re both sicker and sadder than we once were, owing to myriad societal-level woes – businesses that make us feel stronger, in all senses, definitely fit that bill.

A huge group of entrepreneurs answered our call, telling us all about their work, the relevance and impact of which spans dozens of industries and borders. It was heartening and inspiring to read about each of their visions. That said, the 10 ideas selected were standouts to us – companies and founders that we believe will make lives tangibly better as each vision grows.

We present our 2025 Brilliant Business Idea honorees, independently chosen by the staff of The Story Exchange, which has no financial relationship with any startup on this list:
