Name: Annabel Biggar-David

Business: Organico

Location: Cape Town, South Africa

Industry: Healthcare, Wellness & Fitness

Reason for starting? To provide much needed employment in South Africa, inspire beauty and create harmony, as well as support environmentally sustainable farming practices and offer innovative, purposeful products that stimulate consciousness and also provide people with a healthy life of abundance. To create a lifestyle of harmony, where a balance and collaboration exist between people as it exists in nature, with ethics, integrity, care and respect for our surroundings, people and our environment. We are mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and neighbors. We always have cared about others. This is why our social responsibility is not only an integral part of our business model; it is our natural way of doing what we do. In addition to offering a holistic approach to health we take care of our employees, close communities, clients and suppliers. And we will continue to uphold that commitment. We believe in people before profits, and that is why every bottle is labelled, bottled and capped by hand.

How do you define success? When you dare to live fully, with bravery and fearlessness. When you realize you will not be getting out of here alive and this is the one shot we get, so lets make our life a masterpiece.

Biggest success: Being featured on the radio, in 20 magazines and invited to speak at a Women’s Day Conference as our company was put through as a success story to provisional government. Spas and yoga studios are utilizing our essential oils and diffusers to enhance the experience of their practice. Many essential oil users enjoy creating their own unique blends also, which ranges from making their own home cleaners to remedies for their pets. Scents evoke a range of emotions. We’ve had clients buy our diffusers and oils before they book themselves in hospital, as they’re afraid of contracting staph infections. Because ultrasonic diffusers are also air purifiers it makes it an essential tool to have in your arsenal. Imagine if every crèche or school had one of these on hand? Or companies taking initiative and purifying office space, which ultimately will reduce the amount of sick leave employees take. Every bottle is labelled, filled and packaged by hand. We want to educate people on a holistic approach to health.

What is your top challenge and how you have addressed it? We depend on guerrilla marketing as we do not have budgets for marketing.
