This story is part of our 1,000 stories campaign. What’s your story?

Name: Georgia Alexandra Davis

Business: Silver Continent Fine Jewelry, a fashion consultant and designer

Type of Business: Clothing and Accessories

Location: New York, New York, U.S.

Reason for starting: Having children sparked a need for a transition from being a full time fashion stylist & consultant into something creative yet more flexible. A love for hand crafting as well as quality luxury products–specifically jewelry with a sustainable and attainable aspect–drives my company vision.

How do you define success? To me, success is balance. Professionally, it’s managing every aspect of your business (creating new collections, growing sales, achieving a strong social media presence, advertising etc.) and maintaining excellence in quality and service. In the bigger picture, success is the balance of business and your life beyond it.

Biggest Success: Every time a client falls in love with our fine jewelry I consider it a great success.

What is your top challenge and how have you addressed it? Building a business part time with two young children is quite the challenge. Baby steps and growing organically is how I have addressed this challenge so far. I try not to get caught up in the moment, and quiet the urge to try to do everything. A true luxury brand stays true to its roots and vision.

Who is your most important role model? There are quite a few very successful women entrepreneurs to look up to: Tory Burch, Diane Von Furstenberg, Carolina Herera, Lauren Santo Domingo, Kelly Wearstler, Christiane Lemieux. I look up to Monique Pean for standing true to her vision of sustainable fine jewelry. I’m happy to say this is a long list! Also, I take inspiration from my husband and his rock steady values.
