Your Name: Jane Salida
Business Name: Heavenly Fitness, a yoga and fitness studio
Type of Business: Health & Beauty
Business Location: Maidstone Kent, United Kingdom
Reason for starting
I have worked teaching fitness classes for over 18 years, but in 2011 I got made redundant from my managerial role in a leisure centre and was fed up with working for managers at other clubs that weren’t interested in customer service and didn’t understand fitness.
How do you define success?
Success is when you can pay the bills and go to bed happy – anything more is a bonus.
When I opened Heavenly Fitness and things started to come together.
What is your top challenge and how have you addressed it?
My top challenge is advertising – getting people to know we are here as we are not on any main roads. I have tried every kind of advertising, but the things that work best for me – apart from word of mouth which is always best, is cheap banners put up in odd places like on the one way system in town where thousands of cars go past every day and fliers through doors (very time consuming but seems to get the best results)
Who is your most important role model?
My mum is my role model, who has worked hard her whole life and believed in me.
