Name: Lisa Batra

Business: My Kid’s Threads, LLC, an online consignment store for children’s clothing

Industry: Children’s Goods & ServicesE-Commerce

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.

Reason for starting: My Kid’s Threads is a destination for busy moms and dads to buy and sell children’s clothing, from newborns to kids aged 14. Since kids grow like bean stalks, this service makes it easy and affordable to keep kids dressed in high quality clothing from upscale brands at up to 80% off retail prices. Having two kids of my own, who have gone through multiple sizes of clothing in just a few years of life, I know how time consuming it is to find the right clothing at the right price.

The hassle-free consignment process makes it easy to clean out your kid’s closet and earn up to 50% – the highest in the industry. Users can request a free, prepaid mailer bag to fill up with gently used clothing and send back. We take care of the rest. Users can buy and sell kid’s clothes from the comfort of their home.

How do you define success? Success is enjoying life and enjoying work. I spent 15 years in eCommerce for Fortune 500 companies. In corporations, success has a variety of metrics. Being a single member LLC, I wear many hats and for me, success means more than money and power, it is about enjoying your work and what you do.

Biggest Success: My biggest success thus far has been launching the business and an eCommerce site and service model in a few short months with limited to zero resources.

Who is your most important role model? My most important role model are the people I surround myself with every day. The entrepreneurs I meet, the new and old relationships being built and cultivated. People I interact with every day inspire me to succeed. One has to be relentless to succeed as a start-up.
