This story is part of our 1,000 stories campaign. What’s your story?

Name: Mireille van Yperen

Business: DTPH, a designer of online and offline media

Type of Business: Design

Location: BleiswijkNetherlands

Reason for starting: I started my business right after my ex-husband left us. I didn’t want to leave my 1-year old and 4 year old in daycare all day. I wanted to work at home so I could take care of my children while earning my own income. I did not want to miss anything of my children while they grow up.

How do you define success? Now after ten years, my business  and my children have grown up together. I have a solid business and my children are happy as I was always there for them.

Biggest Success: Celebrating the 10th anniversary of my company.

What is your top challenge and how have you addressed it? My challenge now is to stay on top of it and grow even bigger

Who is your most important role model? My father and a dear friend of mine. Both started with nothing, worked hard and built a solid company.
