Name: Nidhi Maitrya
Business: InsuranceGurukul.com, online classes to prepare for India’s insurance exams and qualifications
Industry: Coaching & Consulting
Location: Bangalore, India
Reason for starting: InsuranceGurukul.com started up at the time when I was preparing myself for the Fellowship Exams conducted by the prestigious Insurance Institute of India. The biggest challenge for me was to prepare for these exams in the little time left after office hours. So I went online and did some research to find courses that could train me for these exams. To my surprise, I could not relate to a single player who was providing dedicated and organized learning kits for these professional exams. The next day I resigned from work and started up with my own portal. InsuranceGurukul.com aspires to become as the “one stop destination” for all Insurance related e-training.
How do you define success? Success is an ongoing process. It is the courage to continue despite all odds. Success is breaking your own records and moving on from one goal to another. It is even the art of laying a strong foundation with the bricks thrown on you by others.
Biggest Success: Personally, starting up on my own at an age of 26 back in 2012, taking the risky entrepreneurial path, beating all fears and apprehensions, and quitting a well settled corporate job is the biggest measure of success for me so far. In business, clocking a 30% growth MOM from this financial year is certainly a driving force.

What is your top challenge and how have you addressed it? Getting the user trained online instead of in a traditional class room setting is the biggest challenge for us so far. To address this challenge, apart from educating the consumer and elaborating the advantages of online learning through webinars and emails, we get our hands dirty by going out of the way to help our students one on one, guiding them round the clock on how to get the best of online learning and our offerings.
Who is your most important role model? Self-made people inspire me the most. My parents are the top most on my list.
