Singer Olivia Rodrigo is carving out space for her fellow women musicians.
This August, the Grammy-winner will host Daisy Chain Fields, a new music festival taking place in California with an all-women line-up. In a statement, Rodrigo expressed her excitement. “I’ve had a dream of doing this festival for years, and I am so ecstatic it’s finally coming true!!”
The planned roster of performers includes popular singers and bands such as Chappell Roan, Doechii, Garbage, the Breeders and Rodrigo herself. Special guests like Stevie Nicks and Sarah McLachlan – who herself organized famed women-centric music festival Lilith Fair in the 1990s – will also make appearances.
Representation for women at more established music festivals, like Coachella, is a study-proven pain point. According to Book More Women, an organization that tracks representation for marginalized artists at music festivals, just 21.6% of all musicians booked for the biggest U.S. events of 2025 were women – a decrease from the previous year, researchers added.
There will be other benefits to the festival, too, in addition to creating more opportunities for women musicians. Rodrigo noted that “100% of the net proceeds will go to charities dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls.” Specifically, organizations like Black Mamas Matter Alliance, the Center for Reproductive Rights and Planned Parenthood have partnered with the event, among others.
Community art projects, food vendors and more are being brought on as well, to add to the scope and reach of the festival. “I firmly believe that joy, community and music can be the drivers of meaningful change,,” Rodrigo said. “I’m hopeful this festival will be just that.”
