Reason for starting
I had a practice in Omaha, Nebraska, and moved to Boulder in September 2007. I spent 2 years writing a manuscript, then in January 2010 opened up a practice in Boulder because I saw a need for sex addiction treatment in Boulder.
How do you define success?
Success is seeing the change I can help people make in their lives. I also judge success by seeing my clients commit to the process that therapy entails.
Biggest Success
Helping my clients stay in a marriage that they think is impossible, especially when children are involved.
What is your top challenge and how have you addressed it?
I had a brutal competitor who tried to put me out of business. It was horrible but I just stayed true to who I am and came out ahead.
Who is your most important role model?
There is this fantastic certified sex addiction therapist in Los Angeles who owns the Center for Healthy Sex, her name is Alex Katehakis and she wrote the book Erotic Intelligence. I am currently in a supervision colleague group of hers. She is so bright and creative. She is my role model.
