Name: Radhika Shrivastava

Business: Uniworld Care

Location: New Delhi, India

Industry: Healthcare, Wellness & Fitness

Reason for starting? My story is the story of a female doctor. I practiced medicine for twenty years. As I was the only doctor in my family, I began to help them in all kinds of health situations. That is how, I learnt about the gaps in the health system and really began to understand patient suffering. The problems of a patient include that they don’t know what to do when facing health related challenges. Who is the right doctor? What is the right treatment? How much is it going to cost? What are the other treatment modalities available? What are the important signs and symptoms, and what would be the outcome? Every wrong decision takes patients away from their goal of getting better. Prognosis depends on timely patient arrival (without delay) at a health facility and efficient clinical decision making at the level of provider. So, with the help of technology, I have streamlined this entire process of treatment and follow-up care in a website called Uniworld Care.

How do you define success? Success is a journey for me. It cannot be a destination. If I have a goal today and I am able to achieve that, tomorrow there will be another goal to look forward to. So doing highly impactful work which helps millions of people and will outlive me is what I define as success. My preparation for success lies in getting up every day with full energy and moving up the ladder, even if it is a baby step, every day. I believe life is too short to fulfill all your dreams, so we need to value time and make the most of it. I have seen failures, and I respect my weaknesses, because that is what brings focus and drives me to perfection. I look forward to helping my patients as much as I can, so as to justify my role as health care provider. And lastly, let me be a role model to the many middle class small town women who want to chase their dreams.

Biggest success: My biggest success was winning the Women Entrepreneurship award from the Department of Science & Technology (DST)/ IIT Delhi in 2017.

What is your top challenge and how you have addressed it? My top challenges have focused around sales and marketing. We are in need of a sales team and digital-marketing tools that will help us grow. We also needed help with cost management, so we hired a CA, and in order to further scale up, we are reaching out to different departments with our prototypes.

Who is your most important role model? Steve Jobs is my role model.
