She Provides a 24-Hour Help Hotline for New Moms
Dr. Lope Adejuyigbe, founder of The BestFeeding Club, is answering tricky questions around-the-clock about breastfeeding and more for stressed mothers.
For mothers, it’s a familiar scenario: Breastfeeding problems cropping up in the dead of night, when no one else is awake to assist. Lope Adejuyigbe, a doctor by trade, wanted to be a resource for moms who need help in those quiet hours. That’s why she founded The BestFeeding Club, a hotline based in Lagos, Nigeria, that “provides 24/7 compassionate, science-backed, evidence-based solutions” to whatever hurdle a breastfeeding or pumping mom is grappling with, in real time. She says she’s helped over 500 of them to date, with plans to expand much further.

How is your business different from others in your industry?
We offer a 24/7 breastfeeding hotline to help families over difficulty latching, low milk supply, mastitis [a painful inflammation of breast tissue] and much more. It’s a round-the-clock service offered at an affordable price point – and it’s actually effective!
Tell us about your biggest success so far.
I was the expert medical doctor and lactation consultant on Breastmilk Money, a banking service for new mothers.
What is your top challenge and how have you addressed it?
Marketing the business ethically. To that aim, I’ve learnt that teaching and referrals go such a long way.
What is your biggest tip for other startup entrepreneurs?
Be bolder.
How do you find inspiration on your darkest days?
I talk to my boyfriend, who is very supportive. I also try to remember that a bad day is not a bad life, and I can “create” any life I want.

I admire my mother.
