On July 24, Bumble Brew will be open for wine and dine. Bumble, the dating app founded by Whitney Wolfe Herd, has always done things a little differently. It uses female-focused algorithms to give women more power. It lets women make the first move. And now, it's opening its first restaurant as a "safe space" where women can meet potential partners. Bumble Brew, a partnership between the app and Italian eatery Pasquale Jones, is scheduled to open this weekend in New York's Nolita neighborhood. The restaurant aims to provide a sense of security to women interacting with new people, serving as a “safe space for healthy and equitable relationships and connections,” Bumble’s head of brand partnerships, Julia Smith, told Bloomberg. Originally, the Brew was set to open in the fall of 2019, but between signing off on permits and a deadly pandemic, plans changed. But the launch could be well-timed, given that we’re just now getting out after staring at screens for over a year. Herd, who took Bumble public in February, cited a “pent-up demand to socialize, to meet friends, to engage and to be with people,” in a previous interview with Bloomberg. The eatery, decorated in Bumble yellow, will be serving everything from morel mushroom omelettes to wines and pastas -- and of course, coffee (as if the name doesn’t give that away). For now, Bumble Brew will be serving breakfast only. Lunch starts July 31, and dinner Aug 7.
