Marie Kondo is notorious for her "KonMari" method, which starts with committing to tidying up and ends with asking yourself what sparks joy. For those of us who need a push to get the house cleaned, there’s good news: Marie Kondo is back with a new Netflix series. Back in 2019, Kondo managed to start a movement (and bolster Goodwill donations) after her initial series, “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo,” encouraged watchers to declutter. The follow-up series debuting Tuesday, called “Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo,” continues the journey of finding the little things that bring you happiness and getting rid of those that don’t. Only this time it might even apply to your messy business plan. This series, Kondo isn’t limiting herself to tidying up homes. Kondo will be applying her “KonMari” cleanup methods to businesses, relationships and communities too, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “My method and my approach to tidying is that we always choose what sparks joy, and what you need to be letting go in order to achieve a life that sparks joy,” she told The Daily Beast in an interview. The show aims to demonstrate work-life balance -- something we could all use right now, given that many of us are still working from home and uncertainty continues to plague the country as cases involving the Delta variant increase. “Now is the time that it’s all the more important to find the small joys in your life and learn to cherish them,” Kondo added. “Just little things, like lining your books in a way that give you comfort and peace, are all the more important nowadays.” Although we can’t yet judge what Kondo has in store for us in terms of dejunking our businesses and relationships, there are some confirmed elements of the show that we can look forward to, such as tips on how to set up your home office or how to deck out your garden. The show is also said to dive into Kondo’s own home and life.
