Wage Disparities

An entrenched gap between the salaries of men and women is a problem that is much discussed -- and debated -- in America. The problem is a national one, but it is also significantly bigger in different parts of the country. This infographic from the folks at Expert Market shows how gender disparities in pay for the same work vary geographically. Their map, seen below, shows approximate dates in the calendar year when women essentially "stop" being paid for their work while men in comparable positions continue to draw salaries. The reasons for the pay gap are many, but women do sometimes get in their own way. Studies have shown that, even when women are writing their own paychecks, they still tend to make less than their male counterparts. For you entrepreneurs out there: Are you paying your male and female employees equal and fair wages? For you women entrepreneurs: Are you paying yourself equal and fair wages?
