Reason for starting
The reason we started our business is because we knew we could make a difference in the personal safety of women & children. We were turning on the news at night and seeing story after story about abductions & attacks. We have created a very unique, empowering & fun program for women that teaches them how to avoid & escape from a potential attack. Our goal is to continue Paying It Forward on a national level! We want all women to have an advantage & be prepared for what to do with regard to their personal safety and that of their children.
How do you define success?
Making a difference, saving a life!
Biggest Success
Our biggest success may not be what you are thinking… We measure our success from anonymous surveys that we ask all participants to complete (although voluntary). Based on a scale of 1-10 we receive 9, 10, 10++, etc… ALL of our participants (thousands) say they would recommend us. We have had domestic violence victims attend our class and say, “I wish I knew what you were teaching before I was a victim”. We are making a difference and that is our biggest success!
What is your top challenge and how have you addressed it?
Marketing to the masses with a small business budget & getting everyone to understand that although our business name is “Simple Self Defense for Women” we are not what anyone is thinking about self defense. There is no kicking, screaming, getting thrown around or taking off your shoes. Our program is unique and designed for women ages 9-91! We have appeared on many national television & radio shows & once someone see’s what we do the lightbulb goes off. We are also hiring a publicist beginning in January to help us reach even further.
Who is your most important role model?
My husband. He is so passionate about our business. He is a true believer and never stops thinking of how we can help. As my business partner he is always open to suggestions and we make it work as a team in business & in life.
