This story is part of our 1,000 stories campaign. What’s your story?

Name: Walida Muhammad

Business: Herspiring Bizness, LLC, coaching and consulting for female entrepreneurs

Industry: Coaching & Consulting

Location: East Orange, New Jersey, U.S.

Reason for starting: I started my business to give women the inspiration, motivation, resources and tools they needed to kick start their businesses as well as maintain them. I was going through a financial crisis at the time due to unemployment, relocation to another state and having to raise 5 children. I was not getting any job offers and realized that the more and more I began to speak with women about business, the more I truly loved it! I was finally using my own educational insight from University and my corporate America work experience. I worked day and night consulting and coaching women to start and grow their businesses and thought I could definitely make a living out of it because it is my passion!

How do you define success? Success is when you lay your head down and you know that you have done your best to significantly help someone make a difference in their life!

Biggest Success: My biggest success was when I launched a pilot program called “My Personal Growth Daily Digest,” a text alert program of motivational and inspirational phrases to over 60 women in less than a week. The women were invited to join a conference call after a month, to share how the digests impacted their lives. Many women expressed that they were able to do things that they never dreamed they could do!

What is your top challenge and how have you addressed it? My top challenge is building a network of women who want to really make a difference, with no excuses! So many of the women I coach get to a point just before success and just give up! I want to help them to keep pushing forward.

Who is your most important role model? My most important role model is Khadijah bint Kuwaylid, the first wife of Prophet Muhammad Ibn Abdullah.
