Reason for starting
My partner and I saw an opportunity in the marketplace to service a need that wasn’t being met. Simultaneously and on a more personal level, the flexibility and independence of being an entrepreneur had always appealed to me and aligned naturally with my personality and strengths.

How do you define success?
I measure success by ones personal positive impact on the world and the people around them, the courage and humility with which they create this “impact” and the lessons learned along the way.

Biggest Success
My biggest success has been never letting fear of failure get in my way of trying and always learning from my mistakes. The biggest failure that any entrepreneur can make is not learning from their mistakes…..mistakes will most certainly be made but every mistake and every lesson learned will take you closer to your goal and to attaining your “success”.

What is your top challenge and how have you addressed it?
My greatest challenge has been accepting the fact that my first start-up venture, although a fantastic “success”, was not fulfilling for me personally and then responsibly putting the right people in place to run my company as well (if not better) than I did so that I can focus my time and energy in other, more fulfilling areas.

Who is your most important role model?
This is a hard one…I have so many role models. One of my great role models has been my grandmother. She’s an intellectual with an insatiable appetite for learning and understanding the world we live in. At 86 she has more passion than I’ve ever seen anyone have. She has also taught me a great deal about the feminist movement, to never take for granted the incredible opportunities that we women have and also that it came at a cost and that there are many individuals that deserve our gratitude.
